Kew Gardens, (the plural being it’s proper name) lies on the South bank of the River Thames between Kew and Richmond and it was originally two estates - the Kew Estate and the Richmond Estate, however the two were formed to form this beautiful park.

It is a Botanical Research Center and it boasts the largest plant collection in the world, homed in temperature and condition controlled greenhouses as well as the stunning gardens. With its landscaped lawns, formal gardens and greenhouses, it’s no wonder that this is such a tourist attraction for anybody that is visiting the capital. Possibly the most recognizable structure within the gardens is the infamous Chinese Pagoda.

If you are planning to visit either of these parks, you will be thrilled to know that the area has six main car parks, all costing small fees, although the disabled, providing a disabled badge, can park for free.
Kew Gardens is open 9.30 am to 3.45 pm during the winter months, and 9.30am to 5pm in the summer months. Richmond Park, however, is open from 7am (7.30 in the winter) through to dusk. Richmond park is also free of charge, whereas you need to pay to get into Kew Gardens. The price is fairly small though, with children under the age of 17 (whilst accompanied by an adult) visiting for free and adults only paying 12.25 GBP.
